I want custom made armor, not the same armor that everyone has.

So you basically want a patched, better-looking Guild Wars?

Timeline
This is just me, but if there is a sequal done, I'd like it to happen as near to the first games as possible. For example it'll be a case of pushing back the charr and rebuilding ascalon/kryta in tyria, seeing a possible end to the kurzik/luxon civil war and finishing off the afflicted in cantha, and perhaps restoring kourna and cleaning out any margonite stragglers and readjusting to the new deity lineup.

I really don't want to see a sequal that happens so far before or after the original that you don't get to see the progress. For me it's like playing FFXII after remembing FFT and seeing something that's completely alien. That doesn't mean FFXII is horrible, but when you don't see all the old classes and suddenly there are multiple new races, it does seem a little odd at first.
The reason FFXII is odd compared to FFT is because all FFXII does is just use stuff like boss names, sword names, creature types, etc. from there and nothing that is the same. Just because they borrow the same elements doesn't mean the game should be just like FFT.

Guild Wars 2 should not place anywhere near the original timeline (or on it). It just be set in the past or future, where something drastic has happened or before something drastic happened.

An Eye Towards Future Chapters
This is one of the things that ANet has stuck to in the current games and has irked the fanbase at least a little: even if you own several chapters the older ones stay old. For example there aren't any inscriptions for tyrian or canthan armor or weapons. Nor is there an endgame zone for when you beat prophecies to get an endgame green or endgame armor crafters. Nor can you find any weapons or armor for new classes in the old game, something that doesn't make economic sence. In GW2, be willing to update the older chapters at least a little.
A fix would probably be to just add "expansions" not stand-alone games.

Quote:
Classes for the first game
This suggestion is just for the first game in the GW2 line, but I'd like to see the core classes plus two that are specific for that game. I think that this is one of the downfalls of prophecies is that there aren't any unique classes for that game so if someone buys a followup chapter first, he gets less new things to try out if he goes back to the original.
Maybe they should just keep 6 original classes (or 8, or 4, or however) and then when they add a new expansion (not stand-alone, that is a bad idea IMO), they just...keep the same amount!! WOW!! Can you imagine that?

Quote:
Pick Up Where You Left Off
This is something that bugged me about sims 2: it pretty much restarted with the original game and not enough of the expansion materials. So when GW2 comes out, I'd like to see inscriptions and insignias, heroes, endgame areas, getting to 20 in or just after the starter areas, etc. all in the first game.p
Why do you want what GW already has? It'd just be buying a "new" Guild Wars. It should have a higher level cap, less of the same stuff, and do something unique.

I just hope that they keep what i think is the best thing about GuildWars. Heroes & Henches. Being able to play the game as if it is a single player game is great.

Many times I just don't want to spend time hunting for a pug. I know a lot of people think that without pugs its not really a MMO but tbh, i don't care what you call guildwars. Being able to play with friends when you want, and henches when you don't makes it a much more fun for me.

Following reasons not to increase level cap.

1. ha people will agree with me here. Every time you level up you gain a certain amount of health. If 10 more levels were added you could kiss 55 monks and necros goodbye.

2. 10 or even 20 extra level attr's and stats would be extremely difficult to alocate and would require months and months of coding.

oh yea winterclaw you added hairstylist twice in your post there bud.

Sorry for double posting.

That sounds fantastic but consider coding, extra material req's, cash req's (with current build nerfs) and template creation..Anet has its hands full already...As much as i love that idea...Don't expect to see it..at least not for a while.

Hope Gaile will read this:
Gaile i've seen this post:Fresh Guild Wars announced

GDC 2007 New add-on and complete new game coming your way

By Theo Valich in San Francisco: Monday 05 March 2007, 06:36
NCSOFT HAS ANNOUNCED the development and release dates for regular annual expansion of Guild Wars universe, and not too surprisingly, that this expansion will be the last throw of the dice before its successor appears on the market.

The add-on will be known as Eye of the North, and stands to be released in Q3 of 2007. The price of the add-on is not known at the time of annoucement, but it will be less than already present campaigns. In order to play the game, gamers must own at least one of the already released GW campaigns, like Nightfall, Factions or Prophecies.

Eye of the North brings a conclusion what happened in Tyria after Guild Wars: Prophecies ended, and as such - is 100% oriented towards games with characters of maximum level. We know GW gamers want the numbers, so here they are: 18 new multi-level dungeons, 40 new armour sets, 10 new Heroes and massive 150 new skills, out of which 50 belong only to PvE (Player versus Enviroment).
On the other hand, there are Guild Wars 2. This is a full sequel and will be released in 2009-10 timeframe, with a public beta being released sometime next year. This game will be set several hundred years after GW: Prophecies and Eye of the North, but the main drool factor will be zone-wide events (read, open war in DaoC and Alterac Valley style), combined with refined control system, oriented for action and ease of use. Playable races include Humans, Charr, Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians. Level cap is set, but it is not known at the time, while characters will now progress through the game in a more sensitive way.

The graphics engine will be brought up to date with latest graphics developments in 2009-10, so you can expect a game engine which will offer unrivalled graphics features in world of MMOs.

NCSoft's roadmap now should be pretty clear, as far as GW world is concerned: GW1 add-on, GW2 public beta, GW2 final. Next 18 months will be very busy for these guys.

Is that true?

Ok my ideas:
Improvement in terrain so that jumping and dodging and swimming, climbing hills etc will be doable (i know you can dodge)
The GvG system: The current system OWNS! lots of new maps with the new graphics ofc but the way it works should not be changed imo.
Levels: keep a level cap i'm not saying it should be the same as now but i hope you don't destroy the point in Guildwars by setting a high level cap and letting us grind for months.
Keep the way Guildwars basically works with that we don't want overpowered weapons from 4 hour instances, stick with the skins as a showoff.
Races: Good against evil? Chars, humans, margonites, undeads, elvers, Dwarfs? I somehow don't like this as if you choose the wrong race and get the wrong "Race unique skill" Then the character is allready outdated for PvP.
I think the idea with custom made armors is pretty cool actually, that should be the most expensive armor or something
We do not want a GW2 with the all the same things and just a few updates like hairstylists and stuff which some of the people here says. Its redilicous and they are talking patch updates instead of a whole new Guildwars, tho it would be nice with some of thoose small tweaks to

Well all i could think off just now.

Sorry for my bad english.

I disagree with the OP on some primary points. First of all, minor improvements in graphics, gameplay and expansion can be done to the exsisting game. They already are, for instance, added lip sync to dialoge in previous chapters. There is alot of room for redevelopement and improvement in the exsisting game, if it isn't something that requires a new base engine to function, than new features should be added to what we already have.

This also goes along with the timeframe, if we are going to play something in the near future, and we are also only adding minor improvision with basicly the same game structure, than it may as well be another chapter, not a total sequel. In a game like GW, the continuation could go on for ages, and although some followup to previous events is an obvious highlight to playing a sequel, it doesn't need to be in the same generation to operate. Again, if it is compatable with the original series, and it plays the same, and no outstanding improvements are made, than we really arn't graduating from a new chapter, it isn't significant enough for a sequel.

Personally, I think GW has the visual aspects and support to continue for ages the way it is, and also has the room for improvement to allow even major additions without requiring a new and seperate gameplay engine. If I wish to play and continue the same game, it is better to continue chapters in the exsisting series rather than remake the same game again in a new series when we have already continued the same gameplay and storyline for 3 and more chapters over the expanse of 2 or more years.

I would rather see a new more inovative game made, even if it is under another title or gameplay. I hope Anet is not too stigmatized and monotinous to ride a single feature into forever instead of expand onto even bigger, better, original titles.

More customization is always a plus either way. Merging charm animal and comfort animal is broken. And adding exclusive professions to a starting chapter would be a good sales feature.

I would like the option of playing the game offline (single player), networked, and/or thru online servers (free). Online gathering points could be towns (like Ascalon). Join a group and do quests. Make the quests link to other quests, not running back and forth going just a bit further each time. Skills, experience points, and gold should be quest rewards.
Leave the old characters behind. Maybe a "link" between GW1 & GW2 accounts, allowing interactive NPCs to recognise that you are a direct descendant of "XXXXX". This "intuitive" link may give you a 1 level, or 1 set of attributes, "headstart" in one of your original (GW1) classes.
The open war thing, might allow for an 'Engineer" type class. Makers of siege weapons for a massive assault on a fortress. A "General" class, leader of an assault force, sending units hither, there, and yonder.

My $.02 worth.

JUst throwing in ideas...

Make it more true to the name. In GW, you don't really see much guild activities in the world itself, atleast its not force upon you. Should have more guild driven contents.

And by that I don't mean just player's guild, but also NPC Guilds and Factions that player can join. Thus one can choose to join a NPC run Warrior's Guild (with fancier name, like Knights of Ascalon or something), and get certain bonues or specific quest or unique reward and ranks, base on their achievements in that guild. Can also tie some elements of stories in as well. Also could have completivness toward other NPC run guilds.

Sure Faction have the two faction, but it could use more. It help player feel more sense of belonging to be organize into such group.

--------------------------------------

Oh, and more enviromental visual effects. Earthquake should leave a big crater on the ground, ice spells should leave bits of ice all around, and you should be able to see skeletor hands ripping from gound with necros' spells. Blind could turn your screen dark, Bleed make it red, stuff like that.

for gw2, i want to see massive amounts of content. first of all, it should include all three continents on one huge map. quests shouldnt be follow the big green arrow, they should be a bit challenging adding more locations for quests, im talking about like cross continent mega quests kinda quests.
missions, i dont want to be hyped up for a brand new guild wars only to find 30 missions. there should be a main storyline like the current ones, but add even more. mabey 20 separate missions for each the luxon and the kurzick factions to get indeapth with their war. possibly 3 to 5 missions on taking care of the last bit of charr. and the cut scenes should be beefed up to the max. possibly add in some cgi animations for the high points of the game. I want to be blown away basically, easily over 60 missions to keep us occupied

I know that im asking a lot, but its going to be 2009 or 2010 before this comes out, so they have the time to blow the fanbase away, and even prove to all the guild wars haters about what a great game this is

I just want to see things like procedural character creation, so instead of choosing preset faces you can make your own with various sliders. It's become almost standard these days and I'd be disappointed if it wasn't in GW2.

It's got to have some form of skill system, so I hope they focus on quality over quantity. I would like to see more game mechanics to use in skills and just to make them all generally worth using. I'd like to see the skills have bigger artwork with a thumbnail for the skillbar. Stuff like that. Quality over quantity. Also, better skill acquisition! Skills should basically be a bigger deal than they currently are, especially considering the MtG nature of the game.

I know it isn't favoured by a lot of people but I would really like to see day/night cycle + weather make an appearance. I won't go on about it though.

What else? Well, I'd like environments that are just more interesting. Maybe a voxel system instead of the old displacement map. I'd like towns to feel a little more 'bustling', maybe with interiors for shops and the like.

That's all I can think of at the moment. I want to keep my 'list' fairly high level and not too specific, since that kind of thing is for Anet to surprise us with.

This is sort of a bigger play on what I said earlier, but the graphics of game combat need to be "tweaked" so that you can tell what a player is doing without having to click on them.

Adding dodging and jumping and actually making them a big part of GW2, as well as making sure most skills can be recognized just by their animation, will not only make the game more fun to watch, but make it more challenging.

It will also fix one of the current problems in GW - currently you cant always tell if a person is good at this game or not just by watching them for five minutes. With more combat graphics and movement options pros will be instantly noticeable, because they will use everything.

An offline mode.

Now wait, keep reading.

GW2 you start off with 4 slots (let's say) buut GW2 offline you start off with 2. You can "Earn" more offline, or you can transfer your GW1 characters onto the offline mode. Make it so that you cannot transfer offline to online characters though. That way online will still be fair. In offline mode you can play through all the Expansions plus with GW2 campagin. GW2 I am going to assume you can have heroes. Making it fair to play through the entire game(s) offline.

This would help people with bad internet connection or people who just want to play GW2 with thier old characters.

"PvP" would be Zashien or maybe an upgraded GW2 computer "PvC" (Player vs Computer) that would be a little more masterful than the ones we have now. For offline mode. New content and PvC builds would be available via guildwars.com so that you can still have a challenge.

My 2 cents.

One idea that I would like to see more of in relation to quests:

In pre-sear Ascalon you have the Gift for Althea Quest.
That quest gave you two options on how to complete it.
Give three gifts to the Captain to complete quest

or

Rat out Rurick to Althea and get reward by giving her one gift.

I would like to see more of the optional/multiple path for quests. Rewards are based on your decision or exploration on finding an alternative.

Nightfall did this also with having to pick between which hero to choose. In turn, that gave you different missions/quests along the same story line.
I would like to see more of these type of options and decisions.

The demand for a hairstylist is more important than an auction house for winterclaw. But i think both are important. As the game is way too linear. Needs more flexibility for the programmers to change things and add things. Thus making expansions easier and more profitable. There are many ideas from different games.

The most important thing is adding more flexability in the marketplace. Not just Green Items and Ecto. Add more dimensions to the armor. Make rare armor dropable (With the armor value taking the highest possible for the class wearing it). Diablo 2 had many small knick knacks that drove the market. Such as jewelry and charms. No such need to add them exactly as in Diablo 2. But static items are boring over time. You need to have both to create a long line of interest in the game. There needs to be more movement of money between markets. Instead of gold farmers -> Green/Ecto Farmers -> Loop.

Armor that is basic that can be crafted in different towns, and the nice skins being attributed to Gold armor pieces. How about armor sets that give small bonuses. Like +5 energy PvE only or +30 health PvE only.

There needs to be distinctions in skills to help balance both the PvE world and PvP world. PvP look at PvE players as noobs, and PvE players look at PvP players at snobbish. Eliminate the squabble amongst the skill balances by just creating some that are both and some that are independant of each other.

I hope time intensive things in GW1 will transfer to GW2 like titles. Money I can see being seperate.

I'd like so see more strategic classes like a knight(similar to warriors but with different attributes and slightly stronger armour) they should have a larger range of body blocking then other classes, Jumping and dodging are good ideas too and different classes should have different rates(height of jumping and distance of dodging) for theses aswell.

IMO The level cap should stay at 20. I also dont want new races, I enjoy the 1st prof 2nd prof idea more than races. It would be boring have a race and 2 profs. I thnk having a new GW is good, same game play eg. 8 skills, hench, heros, ect is good but have new maps, new classes.

I think we call all say we want these new things , but, its up the anet to make it these things. We just need to wait and see.
